Dr Suleman Lazarus
Dr Suleman Lazarus is a Visiting Fellow at the Mannheim Centre for Criminology, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). At the LSE, he is engaged in a collaborative research project titled "What Do We Know About Online Romance Fraud Studies?" In addition, he is involved in a funded joint project with Professor Lucinda Platt, focusing on the cultural implications of disabilities. Previously, he was a Visiting Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, the Geography Department, from 2019 to 2020. Before that, he was a member of the lecturing team of the Sociology Department, University of Greenwich, United Kingdom. Besides his research and teaching, Dr Lazarus is also a published poet.
BIOGRAPHY

EDUCATION
Dr Suleman Lazarus completed a multidisciplinary PhD entitled "Establishing the Particularities of Cybercrime in Nigeria: Theoretical and Qualitative Treatments" at the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies, the University of Portsmouth, in 2020. Before that, he obtained a master's degree in Criminal Justice Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Dr Suleman Lazarus's university educational journey began at the University of Greenwich (UoG). In 2013 at the UoG, he earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology with a First Class Honours, receiving the University Merit Award for obtaining the highest classification bachelor's degree grade from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
His multidisciplinary research interests include (1) Cybercriminals and society, (2) Online fraudsters and colonial legacies, (3) Cyber spiritualism in romance scams, (4) Feminism and the Tripartite Cybercrime Framework, (5) Penalties of divorce, (6) Child punishment across cultures, and (7) The therapeutic values of poetry.
